Maple is a software tool for mathematical computation. It has many features that are useful for students and research scientists as well as mathematicians. It has powerful tools for symbolic mathematics and algebraic computing. It can also do numerical computations and graphic.

Maple 13 Windows Installation Instructions
Before starting the installation:
- Get the ISO CD image from https://rc.usf.edu/isos . Log into the server using your NetID and password. Change to the directory /Maple/current and download the ISO file(s). Once the download is finished disconnect from the FTP server. Burn this ISO image file to a blank CD using your favorite CD Recording software. - Alternatively, you could mount the ISO without burning a CD. Read our guide to find out more.
- Exit all programs especially Maple and Excel
- On Windows XP logon as administrator or have administrator privileges.
- Insert CD.
- Double click on the My Computer Icon.
- Double click on the cdrom icon.
- From the main screen click next to continue.
- Use the default folder C:\Program Files\Maple 13\.Click Next.
- If you would like a shortcut installed on your desktop click Yes and then click Next. If not, click No and then click Next.
- If you would like Watson C Compiler to be installed click Yes and then click Next. If not, click No and then click Next.
- If you clicked Yes to install Watscom, use the default folder C:\watcom-1.3 then click Next.
- If there will be only one user click on Single User Profile and then click Next. If there will be multiple users of maple on this machine click on Multi-user Profile and then click Next.
- Click Install on the Pre-Install Summary to begin the installation.
- When installation has finished, Select Activate and then click Next.
- Enter Purchase Code.
- If you are behind a proxy server, click Yes, then enter the appropriate proxy info.
- Click Next to continue.
- Fill out the required fields, then click Next.
- Click OK to continue.
- Click Done to exit the installer and reboot.
- Remove cdrom.
Maple 13 Linux Single User Installation Instructions
Disclaimer: This procedure was tested on a Fedora Core 2 machine. Your mileage may vary.
Use the disk labled Windows/Linux for this install.
- Get the ISO CD image from https://rc.usf.edu/isos . Log into the server using your NetID and password. Change to the directory /Maple/maple13 and download the ISO file. Once the download is finished disconnect from the FTP server.
- Log on as root on your machine.
- Mount the CD. If you have the ISO image and do not want to burn it to CD, you can mount the ISO image as a loop-back device. This is done by executing the following command as root:
# mount -o loop -t iso9660 -r image.iso mount-point/
where image.iso is the name of the Maple 13 ISO image downloaded from our ftp server and mount-point/ is the directory where you want the contents of the Maple 13 ISO to appear.
- Run the Installation Wizard located in $MOUNT/installMapleLinux where $MOUNT is the mount point for the CD or the ISO image.
- Click next in the install window.
- Accept the license
- Enter the path to the installation directory. We recommend something like /usr/local/maple13.
- Select 'Single User License' and click 'Next'
- Click Install from the Summary page.
- When installation is finished, select 'Activate Now'.
- Enter Purchase Code.
- If you are behind a proxy server, click Yes, then enter the appropriate proxy info.
- Click Next to continue.
- Fill out the required fields.
- Click Next to continue.
- Click OK to continue.
- Click Done to exit the installer.
- After the installation has finished, unmount and remove the CD.
- Be sure the directory $MAPLE/bin is added to your path. Where $MAPLE is the installation directory from step 4).
You should be able to start xmaple or maple from the command line.
Maple 13 Mac OS X Single User Installation Instructions
Disclaimer: This procedure was tested on a Mac OS X version 10.4.6 machine. Your mileage may vary.
- Get the ISO CD image from https://rc.usf.edu/isos . Log into the server using your NetID and password. Change to the directory /Maple/current and download the ISO file, "maple13.iso". Once the download is finished disconnect from the FTP server.
- Insert a blank cd into your machine.
- OS X should open a popup with the text "You inserted a blank CD. Choose an action from the pop-up menu or click ignore". Choose "Open Disk Utility" from the menu and then click Ok.
- On the Images menu choose Burn...
- In the pop-up window find and select the downloaded file that you downloaded above.
- Click Burn at the bottom right of the window, and again in the pop-up.
- After the burn has finished, the CD should be ejected. Reinsert the disk.
- Double click on the MAPLE13 icon.
- Click on Maple 13 Installer, and supply administrative password.
- Click Next on the first installer window.
- Click Install
- Click Done
- Eject the CD.
- Click on the Maple 13 icon in the Applications/Maple 13 directory.This step may take a few minutes.You should get a pop-up with the message "Invalid or missing license file."select Activate.
- Enter Purchase Code.
- If you are behind a proxy server, click Yes, then enter the appropriate proxy info.
- Click Next to continue.
- Fill out the required fields.
- Click Next to continue.
- Click OK to continue.
You should be able to lauch Maple by double clicking on the Maple 13 icon in the Applications/Maple 13 directory.
